Remembering the Past: Embracing History and Culture towards Effective Leadership and Sustainable Development

OBJECTIVES:

1. To expose participants to the rich local history and culture of the country 

2. To understand the importance of history towards effective academic instruction, youth development, citizen awareness, leadership and sustainable development. 

REGISTRATION FEE: Registration is inclusive of accommodation, snacks and lunch (dinner not included), modules, kits and certificates.

For walk in participants, with a group of eleven (11), one will be charged free on registration fees. On the other hand, participants who opt to stay in a hotel of their own preference, they will be given Five Hundred Pesos (Php 500.00) discount. Bagong genre ito: mitolohiyang pangkasaysyan, kung saan isinalaysayan ang Kasaysyan natin matapos ang panahong mitiko ni Amaya na nagpakita ng Kapilipinuhan noong sinaunang panahon sa pamamagitan ng pagsalaysay ng mga pangyayari sa isang puon/kahrian at karadyahan. Ipinapakita ang pagkahiwalay ng mga pamahyanang Pilipino (katutubo) dulot ng pagpasok ng Kastila sa pamamagitan ng dati nang pagkakaugnay ng Ilaya (rehiyon ng kabundukan kung saan nagmumula ang mga ilog) at Ilawud (kung saan humahantong ang illog patungopng dagat at ibayo nitong karagatan). Mitikal na ipinakikita ang pagkapanatili ng (mga) katutubong kalinangan sa Ilaya at ang mga pagbabago nito sa Ilawud dulot ng pakikipagugnayan natin sa Banyaga. Nagandahan ako sa simboliksmo ng katauhan ng magiging Indio na anak ng isang diwata [anito sa ibang dako at sa buong Mundong Austronesyano], ang diwata ng Digma, at isang lalaking simpleng nilalang [nasa tradisyong epiko natin ito at nagpapaliwanag sa pagkabayani ng isang nilalalang]. 1912 Transfer of Rizal's Mortal Remains

"In 1912, the foundations were laid for a monument at the Luneta that
would also serve as the final tomb for the hero's mortal remains. On
December 29, 1912, the urn containing the remains was borne in solemn
procession from the family's house to the Ayuntamiento, that fine
Marble Hall that had been a symbol of Spanish sovereignty in the
Philippines. In the salon of the Ayuntamiento, the urn was
enshrined on a magnificent catafalque surrounded by innumerable
floral wreaths, offerings of the nation. Throughout that night, the
Knights of Rizal and other patriotic groups as well as the public
kept vigil round the catafalque.

"Next morning, December 30, 1912 -- sixteenth anniversary of the
martyrdom -- the urn was borne to the Luneta on an artillery caisson
drawn by six horses. Thousands joined the procession and thousands
more lined the streets. At the Luneta, the obsequies were led by
acting Governor-General Newton W. Gilbert and the two ranking
statesmen of the Philippine Assembly, Sergio Osmefia and Mariano
Ponce, the latter one of Rizal's dearest friends. Then the urn was
deposited in the center of the base over which would rise the
monument.

"On the committee in charge of the monument project were Paciano
Rizal and several Rizal colleagues, like Tomas del Rosario, Maximino
Paterno, Ariston Bautista, Juan Terason, Pascual Poblete, Mariano
Limjap, Teodoro R.Yangco and Ramon Genato. The monument they
accomplished has become a national landmark, the most visible tribute
of the nation to its greatest son.”

KNIGHTS OF RIZAL OPENS RIZAL MONTH 2012

The Order of the Knights of Rizal, in accordance with Republic Act 646, is mandated to organize programs to commemorate Jose Rizal’s life, works and martyrdom.

WHAT:           Rizal Month 2012 Kickoff and Blogger’s Day

When:           December 1, 2012 (Saturday), 4:00 p.m.

Where:         International Headquarters of the Order of the Knights of Rizal, Port Area, Manila

Who:      Hon. Ludovico D. Badoy, Executive Director of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines will be the keynote speaker. Other invited guests are Gen. Paciano Rizal’s grandson Mr. Jose Rizal Lopez, representatives from the National Youth Commission and the Commission on Elections, IdeaSpace of Smart Communications, Inc.,

Under Presidential Proclamation No. 126 issued in 2003, the month of December is declared as Dr. Jose P. Rizal Month. The month-long celebration seeks to promote among Filipino youth the visions and ideals of Dr. Jose Rizal, encouraging them to look up to the National Hero as their role model.

To formally open the Rizal Month 2012, a Blogger’s Day shall be held for bloggers, students and media outfits.

The Knights of Rizal, under the able leadership of its Supreme Commander Sir Reghis M. Romero II has also programmed various activities spread throughout the month of December and would be announced during the Blogger’s Day:
