Insider’s Guide to Risk and Disaster Management for Cultural Institutions: A Seminar
December 1, 2011
8am-5pm
Php 1500.00 (includes meals, kit and certificate)
On December 1, the Ortigas Foundation Library and Lopez Memorial Museum will hold a one-day seminar on Risk and Disaster Management for Cultural Institutions. Open to libraries, museums, galleries and members of the public who undertake the task of maintaining cultural heritage, the seminar has a registration fee of Php1500.00.
The Philippines is ranked fourth among countries with the most number of casualties brought about by disasters as well as man-made calamities, and third in the UN’s Disaster Risk Index. Apart from the lives lost, records in the form of documents, photographs, artifacts etc that embody the tangible cultural heritage become victims to these events. ICCROM (International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property) encourages that these be incorporated into existing risk and disaster management plans to ensure their survival during and after the disasters. Lectures and exercises to be given by Ma. Victoria Herrera and Peter Natividad of the Mind Museum and the Lopez Memorial Museum respectively focus on these.
The Ortigas Foundation Library is located at the 2nd floor of Ortigas Building, Ortigas corner Meralco Avenues, Pasig City. Library days and hours are Mondays to Saturdays, 8:30-6pm , except holidays. For more information on the seminar, please call 631- 2417 and 631- 1231 locals 222 and 228 or email admin@lopez-museum.org or ortigasfoundation@ortigas.com.ph.
